European Championship 2008 - Germany
Germany were trying to keep up the very good impression they left at the 2006 World Cup on their home soil and after a very good start in what could have proved a very tough group their form has tailed off. However they, and the Czech Republic, are the two teams to emerge from Group D to take their place in the 2008 finals.
Germany have the best record of all the European teams in this tournament winning it 3 times in 1972, 1980 and 1996. They will go into Euro 2008 as one of the favourites and they are bound to get some great support as they are almost playing on home Soil.
The German coach is Joachim Low who took over from Jurgen Klinsmann after the World Cup in 2006 and has achieved reasonable success since then.
Player To Watch - Miroslav Klose
Up front the German pair of Miroslav Klose and Lukas Podolski who both play for Bayern Munchen could well be the strikers to cause most problems as they are used to playing with each other and are a very potent force having showed their class in the qualifiers and this could be the partnership which gives Germany their 4th Euro Championships.
