European Championship 2008 - Poland
Poland will compete in the Euro 2008 championships for the very first time and finished top of their Group A ahead of Portugal with a total of 28 points.
Poland will be keen to put up a very good performance as they are hosting the Euro 2012 event and while they have finished third twice in the World Cup in 1974 and 1982 they have something to prove in the current environment.
Poland did very well in the Euro 2008 qualifiers and due to the two goals by Euzebiusz Smolarek against Belgium they achieved qualification with one round of matches remaining.
Poland will be one of the rank outsiders for Euro 2008 with many of the online bookmakers going 50/1 about another shock at the Euros.
Player To Watch - Euzebiusz Smolarek
One of the key players for the Polish team will be Euzebiusz Smolarek who scored frequently in the qualifiers and plays his football for Racing de Santander, but the Polish set up does not have any real standout players and this may well be one of their strengths.
